Neoconned At State: 'Diplomats' Urge War

Recently, 51 State Department employees signed a memo urging the president to change his focus in Syria from fighting ISIS to fighting the secular Assad government. They argued that targeting Assad would weaken Assad's enemy, ISIS. The logic is not immediately apparent. They also dismissed any danger that a US attack on Russia's ally in Syria might annoy the Russians, who spent more than six months bombing ISIS and al-Qaeda in Syria. Although these 51 represent a very small faction within the Department, the neocon war propaganda immediately latched on to it. It made front page news in the New York Times. This is likely a preview of a Hillary presidency. More on this important development in today's Liberty Report...

State Department 'Diplomats' Demand War on Assad (and Russia)

In a move that the New York Times reports is nearly unprecedented, some 51 mid-level State Department employees have signed a letter calling for the Obama Administration to begin bombing the Assad government in Syria immediately

Demonstrating the reality that the "soft power" of diplomacy is in fact just a front for the "hard power" of bombs, these "diplomats" demanded the administration immediately initiate:
[A] judicious use of stand-off and air weapons, which would undergird and drive a more focused and hard-nosed US-led diplomatic process.
Yes, to these supposed trained "diplomats," the "diplomatic process" consists of making final demands after the military has bombed your opponent to hell.

You Can't Make This Up: Kerry and Saudi Prince Pledge to Fight Extremism After Orlando Shooting

Here is further proof that US foreign policy fact is stranger than fiction: one day after the Orlando shooting where some 50 patrons of a homosexual bar were gunned down, US Secretary of State John Kerry sat down to dinner with with Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Washington, D.C. and, according to the State Department, "discussed this weekend's shooting in Orlando and expressed their shared commitment to continue their cooperation in combatting the spread of violent extremism, both regionally and internationally."

Obama Hands Corrupt Ukraine Another Billion US Dollars

One of the downsides of the US "regime change" business is that when you break it, you often have to buy it. It's all fun and games when you wander through the streets of Kiev with a bag of cookies encouraging the people to overthrow their government, or when you appear on stage before a riotous mob and alongside avowed national-socialists violently overthrowing a democratically-elected government.

What gets messy is when you get your way, the old government is overthrown, your "guys" seize power, and it turns out corruption and economic mismanagement are worse than before the US-backed "liberation."

Washington to Moscow: Stop Targeting al-Qaeda in Syria - You'll Kill Our Moderates!

The Associated Press is reporting this afternoon that the Obama Administration has requested that the Russians cease and desist from bombing al-Qaeda's Nusra Front in Syria because Washington's "moderate" rebels are fighting together with al-Qaeda in Syria and any attack on al-Qaeda could kill Washington's "moderates."

The Obama Administration thus continues with the fiction that there are completely separate, vetted, moderate rebels who are dedicated to creating an inclusive, multi-cultural and multi-confessional, secular and democratic Syria as soon as both ISIS and the Assad government are defeated.

Al-Qaeda Linked Leader Visits US - To Lobby US Government!

Most Americans would think that after 9/11 and the four trillion dollar, 15 year "war on terror" that followed, the US government might actually wish to prevent individuals from visiting the country who are affiliated with al-Qaeda. Sadly, they would be wrong.

The McClatchy News Service reports that Labib al Nahhas, an official in the al-Qaeda-affiliated Islamist fighting group Ahrar al Sham, was granted a visa to enter the US for a brief visit.

In a recent State Department press briefing, one journalist questioned Department Spokesman Mark Toner about the purported visit. "Were US officials aware of this visit?" asked the journalist.

Breaking: US Soldier in Syria - 'Kill 'em All!'

After continued Pentagon denials that US Special Forces in Syria equals "boots on the ground" in Syria, new video has just emerged of a US soldier standing next to what looks like an armored personnel carrier with Kurdish militia "YPG" spray-painted on it. It appears he is asked some kind of question and he turns to the camera with a menacing smirk and says: "Let me tell you something. I"m from the United States of America and I say kill 'em all!"

Caught on Film: US Special Forces Fighting on Ground in Syria

Today Agence France-Presse published shock photos of US Special Forces troops engaged in combat inside Syria with the US-backed, mostly-Kurdish "Syrian Democratic Forces" as they moved toward the ISIS "capital" of Raqqa. The Pentagon has insisted that US troops in Syria -- numbering upwards of 300 -- play only an “advise and assist” role to the US-backed group, made up mostly of Kurdish YPG forces, but the AFP photos demonstrate clearly that the US forces are engaged in the fight.

The Washington Post reports that the US Special Forces were, "clustered around what appears to be an advanced Mk.47 40mm automatic grenade launcher. The system, built by General Dynamics, is primarily used by Special Operations units and has not been widely sold outside the United States."

Oops! CIA 'Accidentally' Destroyed Its Only Copy of Senate Torture Report

The CIA was once so interested in the Senate Intelligence Committee's report on CIA torture that it secretly spied on the US Senate to see what they were coming up with. These days...well, not so much. They hardly seem interested in the report at all. In fact, the CIA Inspector General's office has acknowledged that it "mistakenly" destroyed its only copy of the Senate torture report.

As Yahoo News reports, it is particularly alarming that the CIA office charged with oversight on matters of illegal CIA activity has bungled its handling of the report. And what a coincidence the CIA loss of the report turns out to be! It seems that, "CIA inspector general officials deleted an uploaded computer file with the report and then accidentally destroyed a disk that also contained the document, filled with thousands of secret files about the CIA’s use of 'enhanced' interrogation methods."

Did You Know? US Special Forces Fighting in Libya and Somalia

With the ongoing larger US wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, and elsewhere, it can easily become the "new normal" that US troops are also fighting in (relatively) small numbers in places we just do not hear about, in wars the media does not question, in bloody conflicts that Congress does not bother to debate much less authorize. Once it was news when US troops were fighting overseas. But now the total US militarization of the rest of the world is so non-controversial that the average American doesn't even seem fazed about it.
