They Attack Us for Telling The Truth. Let's Fight Back

The mainstream media continues to lose audience, revenue, and most importantly credibility. Why is that? Much of it is due to the fact that thanks to the Internet, independent organizations can rise up to challenge the monopoly on ideas that they once enforced. Now, the Washington Post, New York Times, CNN, etc. can be taken to task when they falsely report and distort the news. When they wear their biases so clearly on their sleeve that they resemble Pravda of old.

The Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity is one such organization. Founded by Ron Paul upon his retirement from Congress, the Institute has grown enormously in stature while retaining its very modest size and budget. We have grown so much in influence, in fact, that just last week when the Washington Post publicized the infamous "blacklist" of organizations it views as a threat to its prominence, the Ron Paul Institute was included among such major alternative outlets as the Drudge Report, Zero Hedge, Counterpunch, and others. That's pretty good company to be in!

Breaking: Trump, Putin Speak on Telephone; Vow to Improve Relations

After a rancorous presidential campaign in which the Hillary Clinton team actually accused President-elect Donald Trump of being a Russian agent, a new tone is being set by the next US president. Russian president Vladimir Putin spoke by telephone this afternoon with the incoming Republican and both men agreed to work toward "constructive cooperation" between the US and Russia. According to the Kremlin website, the two agreed to "return to pragmatic, mutually beneficial cooperation, which would address the interests of both countries as well as stability and safety the world over."

The End of Interventionism?

Looking over the global landscape, the areas most touched by US interventionist foreign policy are objectively in the worst, most desperate shape. The mainstream media will report that the current disaster in Syria came about because the people decided to stand up to a cruel dictator in the "Arab Spring" that swept through the greater Middle East in 2011, and that the dictator cracked down so hard it caused the violence to spin out of control. We know, of course, that is not the whole story. The US had been involved in fomenting unrest in Syria at least five years or more before violence broke out. A Wikileaks-released cable from 2006 shows how hard the US Embassy in Damascus was working to figure out a way to overthrow the government. Shortly after the partially manufactured protests devolved into violence, the CIA moved in and began arming (and importing) rebels to finish the deed. In five years the country has been destroyed, hundreds of thousands killed, millions left without homes.

Oops They Did it Again: US 'Misdirected' Drone Strike on Somalia Kills 22 Civilians, Soldiers

In what the US is calling a "misdirected" airstrike, some 22 Somali citizens and soldiers were killed by a US missile fired from a drone intended to take out al-Qaeda affiliated al-Shabab militia members. According to the BBC, the airstrike may have been a way for one region in Somalia to settle scores with another courtesy of US military might: "Officials in the semi-autonomous region of Galmudug accused neighboring Puntland of misleading the US into believing they had targeted extremists."

In Kerry's Own Words: Syria Prohibited from Attacking al-Qaeda

No wonder the United States insisted that its Syria ceasefire deal with Russia remain secret! It turns out that one of the US demands was that the Syrian air force must be prohibited from attacking al-Nusra Front (al-Qaeda in Syria). Crazy conspiracy theory? Listen to John Kerry's own words at the UN yesterday...

Breaking: US Military Strikes Syrian Forces, Allowing ISIS to Advance

The Associated Press is reporting that the US military has struck Syrian government positions in the eastern province of Deir el-Zour today, as the Syrian military was involved in a battle with ISIS forces. According to the report, the US attack on Syrian troops "enabled an [ISIS] advance on the hill overlooking the air base." There has not yet been a US confirmation of the attack, but it it is confirmed it will be the second time US forces have directly targeted Syrian government troops inside Syria. It would be the first time such an attack produced a battlefield advantage to ISIS.

Breaking: Did Washington Just Declare a 'No Fly' Zone in Syria?

Reading between the lines in today's Pentagon press briefing, a bombshell US policy shift is becoming more apparent: Syrian forces and their Russian partners are being told that conducting military operations in some parts of Syrian airspace opens them up to being shot down by the US military.

Pentagon Spokesman Peter Cook was asked numerous times in numerous ways whether this amounts to a US "no fly zone" over parts of Syria. His first response was vague but threatening:
We will use our air power as needed to protect coalition forces and our partnered operations.
The policy shift was so apparent that, one-by-one, the press corps asked for clarification.

US Warns Syrian Military...Against Operating Inside Syria!

Just when you thought US foreign policy could not get more absurd. Lt. Gen. Stephen Townsend, who is listed as "commander of US forces in Iraq and Syria," has issued a warning to the Syrian military that if its counter-insurgency operations on Syrian soil leave US troops on Syrian soil "feeling threatened," the US military would "defend itself."

That needs to be broken down to even be believed.

The Syrian military is fighting an armed uprising on its own soil. The US government is training and equipping several factions of that armed insurgency, in this case the Kurdish YPG militia. The US military is also operating on Syrian soil alongside and in support of the YPG militia. Members of the YPG militia have, over the past several days, been firing on Syrian government forces. The Syrian air force returns fire on its own soil and the US military that is illegally operating on Syrian soil issues a warning to the Syrian government to stop firing on insurgents on Syrian soil!
