Why Are We Still In Syria?

According to recent reporting, the US is building another military base in Syria, this time near the Syrian oil fields in the north east of the country. Why does the US want to control Syrian oil production? Is it looking to steal Syrian resources? After all, ISIS is all but defeated and the reason given for US involvement no longer makes sense. Is the US looking for a direct conflict with Russia? Is Washington staging for a war on Iran? US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley has repeatedly warned that the US is ready for a large-scale attack on the Assad government. Why are we still in Syria? Tune in to today's Liberty Report...

East Ghouta: Obama's Last Stand In Syria?

US-backed rebels in East Ghouta are facing defeat. As none of Washington's predictions about the "fall" of the region have come true, the State Department and Pentagon have grown strangely quiet. Given the opportunity to leave, tens of thousands are evacuating to government-controlled areas. Why would they do that if Assad gasses his own people, as the US claims? Even arch-neocon Max Boot says we should stop trying to overthrow Assad because after the liberation of Aleppo by Assad's forces people seem to be getting back to normal lives. Will Trump have the courage and wisdom to end Obama's idiotic Syria policy? Tune in to today's Liberty Report...

Strike Two: US Again Launches 'Defense' Attack on Russian and Syrian Forces in Syria

For the second time in a week, US military forces occupying northeast Syria have attacked Syrian government forces, blowing up a Russian-made T-72 battle tank on Saturday. According to a statement made today by Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Harrigian, commander of U.S. Air Forces Central Command, US forces saw a Russian tank in Syria that "took a shot at us" and the US side called in an airstrike in "self-defense."

Breaking: US-Backed Free Syrian Army Group Shoots Down Russian Jet, Kills Pilot

The Jaysh al-Nasr rebel group in Syria, part of the US-backed Free Syrian Army, has posted footage of its fighters celebrating the shoot-down of a Russian Suhkoi-25 jet fighter in the Idlib province of Syria. It is the first time a Russian fighter has been shot down by Syrian rebels attempting to overthrow the government of Bashar al-Assad in Syria.

The plane was apparently brought down by a man-portable air defense system (ManPADS) surface-to-air missile. According to press reports, the pilot ejected from the plane safely but was killed by the Syrian rebels on the ground.

OMG! Trump Aide Met With NATO Partner Hungary During Campaign!

The media frenzy over "Russiagate" seems to get progressively more stupid as desperation takes hold. To sustain the sense of frenzy -- which Russiagate cultists call "drip drip drip" -- they need new sensational bombshells every day. Except there aren't any. So the media makes them up.

Case-in-point this breathless piece from the Capitol Hill rag, The Hill, screeching paranoia over the fact that an advisor to candidate Trump's presidential campaign MET WITH AN ADVISOR TO NATO-ALLY HUNGARY'S PRIME MINISTER!!!! OMG!!! Drip Drip Drip!!! GET ME MUELLER, STAT!!!

Washington Forbids Serbia from De-Mining Syria

This may be one of the cruelest and most cynical moves of Washington in its entire dark "regime change Syria" chapter. Serbian media sources are reporting, based on quotes from US Embassy Belgrade personnel, that the United States has sought and been given assurances by the Serbian government and military that Serbian de-mining experts would not be deploying to Syria to assist in removing the ubiquitous horrific mines and other explosive devices left behind by a retreating ISIS.

As the rout of ISIS forces continues in Syria, the civilian population begins returning to their homes and their lives that had been disrupted by the Islamic State, al-Qaeda, and other extremist groups. According to the United Nations, more than 600,000 Syrians have returned to areas liberated by the Syrian government with the assistance of Russia and Iranian forces.

Ron Paul's New Book 'The Revolution at Ten Years': Get Your Personalized Copy!

Early in his new book, The Revolution at Ten Years, Ron Paul writes this synopsis of our current situation:
Though the 'Revolution' of 2007 is essentially forgotten in a political sense, the ideology that inspired it is very much alive, and the anger and loss of confidence in our current system continues to grow.
That captures our current situation perfectly. As we all know, a political campaign can capture the imagination and garner huge, banner-waving crowds. But even a winning political campaign is a temporary phenomenon. As we know, a successful political campaign can be very quickly followed by disappointment and regret.

Blowback: Israel Threatens Syria Over Iran

US and allied interventionism in Iraq and Syria has not produced the promised results. An Iraq government close to Iran, a Syria saved from a jihadist takeover by Russia and Iran, and so on. Israel was firmly aboard the "regime change" train but suddenly sees the shake-out not looking in its favor. That is the problem with regime-change and interventionism: it does not work as promised. Now Israel feels threatened by the result. What's next? Threats are flying from Netanyahu over Iranians in Syria. We discuss blowback in today's Liberty Report...

Senate Declares War On Wikileaks - With Philip Giraldi

The US Senate Intelligence Committee has passed an Authorization bill that specifically targets Wikileaks and its senior personnel as a "hostile non-state intelligence agency" that receives assistance from foreign state intelligence services. This designation would green-light all manner of US overt and covert action against the news organization and its employees, in blatant violation of the First Amendment. Is the US, under a president that said "I love Wikileaks," about to go to war with Wikileaks? Former CIA officer Phil Giraldi brings his vast experience to bear in today's Liberty Report. What might we expect?

Pentagon Attacks Extremists At Home...But Finances Them Overseas

After the violence in Charlottesville last week, the Pentagon took the unusual step of publicly denouncing the racial bigotry of the neo-Nazis who participated in the violent rallies. The Pentagon has had a good record of helping integrate Americans even in the dark days of government-enforced Jim Crow laws. But at nearly the same time that Pentagon top brass was making this denunciation it was preparing to ship millions of dollars of weapons to a Ukrainian government dominated by outright Nazis and Nazi sympathizers. Isn't there more than a little hypocrisy in that? In fact, US interventionist foreign policy relies on extremist groups overseas to do Washington's bidding. Look no further than Syria, Afghanistan (in the 1970s), Latin America (1980s), Saudi Arabia, etc...
