Ron Paul Appears in Movies Based on Novels Atlas Shrugged and Alongside Night

Is former Member of the United States House of Representatives and current RPI Chairman Ron Paul “going Hollywood?” Not quite, he is still living in Texas and focused on protecting freedom. But, according to media reports, Paul has small roles in new movies based on Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged and J. Neil Schulman’s Alongside Night. Both novels deal with oppressive governments and people acting to protect their freedom.

A Hollywood Reporter article regarding Paul’s role in Atlas Shrugged: Who Is John Galt? — the third installment of an Atlas Shrugged movie trilogy — includes this video in which Paul describes the influence the Rand novel had on him:

Atlas Shrugged: Who is John Galt? is scheduled to play in theaters starting September 12.

Schulman, who wrote and directed the movie based on his novel, describes in a Washington Examiner article Paul’s role in Alongside Night:
Paul’s part in the movie comes in a news clip during which he warned about the currency collapsing. “He presciently is talking about the currency being vulnerable and could collapse at any time and is just the perfect thing in that moment of the movie when the character retrieves gold,” said Schulman.
