Hugh Hewitt's Demonic Visions

In a GOP debate otherwise marked by constant calls for more bombs, more boots on the ground, more invasions, and even punching Russian President Vladimir Putin in the nose, one exchange stood out as the sad epitaph for an America whose moral compass has gone completely off.

Neoconservative talk show host Hugh Hewitt was trying to gage the candidates' willingness to fight endless wars, and he must have sensed that retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, as one who has saved the lives of so many, might be weak on the war question. Could Carson kill as ruthlessly as the others, Hewitt demanded to know.

Former CIA Chief Woolsey: Electrocution Too Good for Snowden. Hang Him!

Former Director of Central Intelligence James Woolsey has discovered who is really behind the Paris attacks. The blame does not really fall on ISIS, nor on Gulf States that have financed ISIS. Certainly there is no blame on the United States for its decision to destabilize Syria thereby providing fertile breeding ground for Islamist extremists.

No. The fault for Paris falls directly at the feet of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden. It was Snowden's revelations about NSA spying that tipped off the ISIS attackers to the need to use encryption in their communications. Thus, argues Woolsey, they could not be tracked by intelligence and were able to commit the heinous act undetected.

“The blood of a lot of these French young people is on his hands… because of what he turned loose,” said the former CIA chief.

Because of all this, Snowden is an accomplice to mass murder in addition to being a traitor, argues James Woolsey, and must be put to death immediately. But nothing "humane" like electrocution is good enough for Woolsey. No. Woolsey would "prefer to see him hanged by the neck until he’s dead rather than merely electrocuted.”

Who Would Dr. Ben Kill?

GOP Presidential candidate and retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson is unafraid to wear his Christian values on his sleeve. Indeed he has rocketed to frontrunner status on the strength of his popularity with Evangelical Christians in the US. But thanks to Lew Rockwell for pointing out the shocking anti-Christian core of Ben Carson's "Christianity." Carson rips to shreds a central component of the ancient Christian "Just War" theory: the idea of distinction once war has begun (Jus in bello).

According to centuries of thinking on the Christian conduct of war, the warring parties must make a distinction between legitimate military targets and non-combatants caught up in the conflict through no fault of their own. Christians are not to support the wholesale slaughter of civilian non-combatants regardless of their religious beliefs, skin color, customs, or nationality.

Victoria Nuland's Capitol Hill Comedy of Errors

Wednesday's hearing in the House Foreign Affairs Committee was a comedy of errors, starting with the loaded title: "US Policy After Russia’s Escalation in Syria." The hearing featured two Assistant Secretaries of State as witnesses, Victoria "cookies" Nuland, in charge of European and Eurasian Affairs, and Anne Patterson with Near Eastern Affairs duty at State.

Starting with the title, yes, "escalation." Apparently four years of active US regime change policy in Syria is not "escalation." Four years violating Syria's sovereignty with a CIA covert war on its soil is not "escalation." Billions spent training "moderate" rebels who rush to join al-Qaeda at first opportunity is not "escalation." A year of US bombing sorties over Syria in violation of US law and international law is not "escalation." Failed "regime change" policy in Syria producing millions of refugees is not "escalation." And now, a presidential decision to place the US military into a country that has neither attacked nor threatened the US is not "escalation."

Chris Christie: Let's Start WWIII!

New Jersey governor Chris Christie may be favored by only about a total of 12 people in the US to be the next president, but that does not stop the mainstream media from treating him as a frontrunner. After all, what is the support of the mere lumpen-votarian when you have a mission to accomplish? So they continue to thrust the microphone into the face of the rotund one to amplify his neocon words of wisdom.

John McCain Wants to Shoot Down Russian Planes

Sen. John McCain has a personal stake in the ISIS and al-Qaeda members currently being targeted by Russian fighter planes. It was just two years ago that McCain found himself in the embarrassing position of having to explain his sleepover with a group of ISIS-affiliated terrorists in Syria. He has repeatedly called for more direct US military involvement to overthrow the Syrian government. Repeated stories of the failures of the US rebel training program have only steeled his resolve. Facts must not get in the way of McCain's regime change plans for Syria.

Samantha Power Slams Russia's 'Support' For Assad, Downplays ISIS Threat

More evidence that the current "Russia invaded Syria" media frenzy is a Washington-engineered psy-op to provide cover for a final US push against Bashar al-Assad, is provided in today's outburst from US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power, the fuel injector in the neocon "regime change" engine.

While the US has conducted more than 2,500 airstrikes against ISIS in Syria over the past year to very little effect, Power has taken to warning Russia that its claimed "military deployment" to Syria is "not a winning strategy."

The Neocon Foreign Policy Walmart

One of the most depressing things about watching -- even from a distance -- the quadrennial race for the White House is watching what passes for a debate on the one area where the president does have some Constitutional authority: foreign policy.

Candidates who have spent little or no time studying or traveling to the rest of the world, and, in the fashion of many Americans in the age of Empire, see the rest of the world as just a series of US colonial outposts, apparently consider foreign policy unworthy of serious consideration.

Warhead in Charge of US Institute of Peace

Along with the National Endowment for Democracy, the US Institute of Peace is one of President Reagan's worst disasters. Reagan may well have wanted to create pseudo non-governmental organizations to push democracy and peace, but by putting neocons in charge of both he delivered two organizations undermining democracy and pushing war.

Both organizations should be brought up on charges of violating truth in labeling laws. The National Endowment for Democracy, with its focus on subversion and regime change overseas is the antithesis of democracy. The very concept of a national endowment for democracy was cooked up in the mind of arch-interventionist CIA director William Casey.

Likewise the US Institute of Peace, appropriately created by Reagan in the year 1984, is an Orwellian "peace" organization that pushes US intervention and war overseas.

NED Booted from Russia, Gershman Apoplectic

National Endowment for Democracy president-for-life Carl Gershman takes to the pages of the Washington Post today to put a positive spin on a recent Russian government decision to finally send that US government-funded regime-change organization packing. The Russian finding that NED is a threat to the constitutional order, writes Gershman, only demonstrates that "the regime of President Vladimir Putin faces a worsening crisis of political legitimacy." According to Gershman, Putin is terrified at the prospect of any political opposition and is therefore clamping down by ousting the NED. In other words, as Gershman writes, "the pressures are now building toward what many in Russia believe is a major political turning point."
