Richard Branson Joins Venezuelan Regime Change Effort

undefined

As I write this, there is a false flag underway on the border of Venezuela and Brazil. It looks like two people were killed and a dozen wounded after Venezuelan troops opened fire on locals. The confrontation is part of an effort to deliver “aid” to the crisis-wracked nation (thanks in large part to US sanctions).

Hezbollah in S. America: Mike Pompeo’s Big Lie

undefined

It’s late 2002, early 2003 again. This time, instead of the evil (former CIA asset) Saddam Hussein posing a dire threat to America, it’s Iran and Hezbollah stationed in Venezuela.

Throw in the perennial enemy of a post-colonial Caribbean, Castro’s Cuba, and we have the makings for yet another military intervention on our hands, according to Sec. State Pompeo.
Let’s talk about the important remarks made recently by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, saying how (#Iran-backed) Hezbollah has an active role in #Venezuela, as part of a “cocaine corridor.” pic.twitter.com/b05l4GwDwb

There is little evidence of any hanky panky vis-à-vis Hezbollah in Venezuela. If there is indeed a Hezbollah presence in Caracas or anywhere else in South America, this would be quite natural given the practice of international diplomacy. Hezbollah is part of the Lebanese government and representative of Shia Muslims in Lebanon. Like hundreds of other political parties and governments, it has a military or paramilitary component.

John Bolton’s Plan to Starve Millions of Venezuelans into Submission

undefined

It is true Venezuela’s economic problems are in large part due to that country’s socialist command economy, but this overlooks the role played by the United States, the United Nations, and the European Union.

Over the last five years, the US has imposed financial sanctions on Venezuela. It has cut it off from western financial markets and this has resulted in oil production shortfalls. Venezuela is unable to raise capital to address deficiencies in the oil sector of its economy. This situation was exacerbated when the price of petroleum fell sharply around the world. Venezuelan debt instruments are banned by the US Treasury, thus preventing it from acquiring loans to address its severe economic problems and feed the people.

The pattern has become rote. Nations that are not captive to neoliberalism suddenly find they have a terrorist problem. If the nation in question is communist or quasi-communist, no terrorist false flags are required, the evil venality of Leninism and Stalinism are enough to gain consensus for economic warfare followed by a physical invasion if the leader in question does not fall or acquiesce.

Bolton: I’ll Send Maduro to Gitmo

undefined

On Friday, the neocon running Trump’s foreign policy, John Bolton, threatened to send the elected president of Venezuela to the indefinite torture camp at Guantanamo.

Maduro should be relieved. The previous neoliberal regime in DC had the disfavored leader of Libya assassinated, but not before NATO-backed Islamists sadistically raped him with a bayonet. The longer Maduro resists, the more likely a variation of the above scenario will play out in Venezuela. Indefinite detention without charge is no doubt the preferable option.

Bolton is a well-seasoned neocon. He knows instinctively how to play the game. It was of course not a mistake his notepad said troops may be sent to neighboring Columbia.

His hint about sending the president of Venezuela to Camp Gitmo is also not a mistake. These are the guys who set-up Saddam Hussein and arranged to have him sent to the gallows.

In all cases—with the exception of Afghanistan—the primary objective is to control the vast oil reserves in Iraq, Iran, Libya, and now Venezuela, the country with the largest known oil reserve in the world.

Trump and the MAGA Crowd Embrace the Neocon Plan for Venezuela

undefined

Is it fair to call MAGA neocon lite, or possibly MAGAcons?

The fact so few of these establishment labeled “white nationalists” had anything to say about Trump’s illegal bombing of Syria, or the death toll from his war against ISIS, leads me to believe they enthusiastically support intervention in foreign nations, most recently Venezuela. They are not opposed to these illegal actions, which leads one to believe they subscribe to the neoliberal religion, or at least are not opposed to it.

From the start, it was obvious Trump was not a noninterventionist. He sincerely believes in using state violence to realize his vision of making America great again, which is to say continuing neoliberal interventionist policies in violation of international law, policies designed and implemented by a global elite, the practitioners of the neoliberal creed of creative destruction that employs mass murder and societal destruction as regime change tools.

Trump has said he’s not interested in nation-building. On the other hand, he said he is in favor of making victims pay for the destruction of their nations and societies. Recall his promise to make Iraq pay for its destruction. Trump said he would do this by stealing Iraqi oil and also said “terrorists” (those resisting occupation) would be tortured in the presence of their families.

Democrats Prepare Hearings on 'Rightwing Extremism'

undefined

Prior to the 2018 midterm election, I speculated a Democrat-controlled House would result in hearings targeting “hate groups,” that is to say anybody on the “right” who challenges official narratives, otherwise known as “conspiracy theories.”

“Rep. Bennie Thompson, an African American lawmaker from Mississippi, is in charge of the House Homeland Security Committee,” reports McClatchy. “Thompson intends to hold hearings to spotlight what experts say is a growth of deadly right wing extremism in America, even if the hearings could feature members of white supremacist groups.”
Thompson said his aim is to change the dialogue and find a balance in a US domestic terrorism strategy that he believes has focused too heavily on the threat of homegrown Muslim terrorism and too little the rise of far right, white nationalist, and anti-Semitic groups.
The corporate propaganda media has done a fair job of conflating “white supremacy” and political thought the government wants to silence and shutdown.

The McClatchy article follows this line and links the “trend” of antigovernment activism to Timothy McVeigh and the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.

Murder in Pittsburgh and the Targeting of Alternative Social Media

undefined

Robert Bowers, the suspected shooter at a synagogue in Pittsburgh, is being used to denounce social media not on the corporate reservation. Bowers had an account on Gab, the free speech social media alternative to Twitter and Facebook, where he posted antisemitic content, and this is now being used to portray the site as a haven for antisemites.

Michael Moore’s Dumbed-Down America

undefined

Michael Moore had epiphany while on the road to Rome.

The filmmaker lambasted corporate media for placing more emphasis on frivolous entertainment than hard-hitting objective news.

“If you allow rich corporations to buy up and control most of the media, and then put things on the media that are intended to appeal to the stupidity that’s in all of us, you will have a dumb-downed nation,” he said.

Notice the use of the transitive verb “allow” in the above statement. If Moore sat atop the pinnacle of the state, he would decide what corporations are allowed to do business, and those not. Everything else would be run by a bloated, misfiring, inept, and corrupt state.

And who are these dumbed-down Americans, according to Moore? Those who voted for Trump and those who did not vote at all.

If we follow Moore’s partisan-tilted logic, white males are responsible for installing Trump in the White House. “These are the last days of the dying dinosaur, the old white man who has been making the decisions since the beginning of our time,” he said.

How the Corporate State Murders Free Speech

undefined

If you read anything today, read Andre Damon’s analysis of the concerted  effort by the state and its corporate partners—the very essence corporatism, fascism as Mussolini described it—to once again dominate the narrative as it did before the internet and the web. Damon critiques a paper put out by the Atlantic Council. The author, John T. Watts, a former Australian Army officer and consultant to the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security, writes that in order for the state to regain its monopoly over the narrative, it must engage in censorship
