Senate Forbids Israel Boycott - Is It Constitutional?

The first Senate bill of the year has taken on those who seek to boycott Israel over its treatment of Palestinians. In a complicated maneuver, the Senate has voted to allow states to boycott the boycotters. Is it a free speech/First Amendment issue? Supporters of the bill say no. Many civil libertarians disagree. We weigh both sides of the argument in today's Liberty Report...

Bolton's Plan: Starve Venezuela

The Trump Administration, led by President National Security Advisor John Bolton, has announced that it would be sending humanitarian aid to the pro-rebel factions in Venezuela while tightening sanctions on pro-government civilians. The goal is obvious: use hunger to get people to turn against their elected government and for the US-appointed president. Is this a moral approach to foreign policy? Is this "restoring democracy"? Iraq Redux: Trump's Venezuela 'Regime Change' Another Pack of Lies

undefined

It has been just over a week since I last wrote to you, at the time just before Trump's Venezuela regime change operation hit the mainstream media. I warned that his recognition of an unelected politician as president and his dedication to install that politician with violence if necessary would constitute the worst mistake of his presidency.

Since that time, Trump, through his neocon proxies, has doubled down on his Venezuela regime change plan to the point where the US is seizing Venezuela's assets and channeling millions to the unelected opposition in the hopes that with a US cash infusion Washington's regime change plans can become facts on the ground in the country. Of course for that to happen, it will require massive amounts of bloodshed, as regime neocons are already touting what they claim are opposition supporters on the street as evidence their regime change operation is legitimate and supported by "the people."

But even if their photos are not manipulated and altered by those forces and institutions working on regime change (like the CIA, which has been dedicated to the overthrow of the Venezuelan government for at least the past 17 years), do thousands of people in the streets constitute a legitimate mandate in the "international rules-based order" so often cited by the interventionists? What of the thousands of us who demonstrated that freezing day in late 2002 against the Bush Administration's march to war in Iraq? So we don't count according to them?

What about the 2017 "Women's March" against Trump? It was said to be the largest demonstration in US history. Surely the largest demonstration in US history means that Trump's electoral mandate is invalid, no? Because even if Bolton's Tweeted photos from the opposition demonstrations today in Venezuela are not CIA cook-ups, that is exactly what the neocons are claiming: people in the street = overturn elections. I guess we are exempt?

Fearmongering: Senate Chairman Warns 'Prepare For WWIII With China'

At a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing earlier this week, Committee Chair James Inhofe (R-OK) warned that dealing with China's activities in the South China Sea is like preparing for World War III. He complains that the US doesn't even know who its allies are any longer. He warned of a long, protracted struggle. The hearing witnesses consisted of three "experts" from two neoconservative think tanks - all funded by the military industrial complex. Unsurprisingly, they agreed with Inhofe about a long struggle. Profitable. Tune in to today's Liberty Report...

Deep State At War: Intel Chiefs Slam Trump Before Senate

Appearing before the Senate, US intelligence community heads undermined each of President Trump's foreign policy positions and warned that foreign "enemies" would likely interfere in the 2020 elections. The Deep State, neocons, and the liberal #resistance all line up against peace and freedom. Tune in to today's Liberty Report...

Bolton: We're Taking Venezuela's Oil

President Trump's National Security Advisor John Bolton made US policy toward Venezuela very clear in an interview on FoxNews yesterday: We're going to overthrow the government and take the country's oil. He gets points for bluntness, at least. But who are the "democratic forces" the US seeks to install to "restore Venezuela's constitution"? They were all trained by the same US government funded "regime change factories" behind the color revolutions of the Bush and Obama Administrations. In other words, they are the creations of the US government, not of the Venezuelan people. Tune in to today's Liberty Report...

Distraction: Obsessing Over 'The Wall' While Ignoring Neocon Threat

Where is Congress on issues that really matter? Venezuela? They don't want a debate because they all agree on interventionism. Syria? The only debate was to shut down any debate when the president proposed getting US troops out. Yemen? Nope. On NATO Congress voted to prohibit debate on getting out of that Cold War alliance. Nope - it's all about politics and scoring political points. Which is why we are mired in this phony debate about wall or no wall. Pure political grandstanding. A tour of the more important issues in today's Liberty Report...

'Maduro Must Go!' - Trump Administration Backs Venezuela Regime Change

President Trump yesterday recognized Venezuelan opposition legislator as the legitimate president of the country and warned that "all options are on the table" if Venezuela's elected president moves against protestors or expelled US embassy staff who refuse to leave Caracas. US neocons applaud Trump's move. Does the US president finally have his very own "Syria" on his hands?
