Will Migrant Crisis Kill EU?

The massive wave of migrants flooding Europe is a man-made catastrophe, to be sure. It is the product of US and EU interventionist foreign policy and the obsession with regime change that is particularly pernicious in Washington. Hungary was originally blamed for trying to hold back the floodgates, but as Austria and Germany saw what was coming it appears Hungary was trying to do them a favor. Today's Liberty Report is joined by UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage to discuss the impact of the migration crisis on the EU and also whether a UK referendum on EU membership has any chance of passing...

Intel Analysts: US Fixing Facts Around Policy

More than 50 intelligence officers from the Defense Intelligence Agency have formally complained that their work is being altered before it is sent to senior Obama Administration officials -- and even to the president himself. Concerns over the effectiveness of the year-long new US war in Iraq and Syria are being covered up and a more rosy picture is being painted. The media has largely ignored this replay of the kind of lies fed the run-up to the 2002 Iraq war and, as could be expected, Congress is totally uninterested. Today's Liberty Report is not uninterested, however....

Catalonia Vote - Will They Secede?

Voters in Spain's Catalonia region will go to the polls on Sunday to elect a new parliament. Parties favoring secession from the Spanish state appear poised to make significant gains or even end up in majority. EU officialdom is furious at the move, and both German and British leaders have openly condemned any secessionist impulse among Catalans. Why so much fear over self-determination, which is after all a basic human right? What does it mean if an individual or even a group cannot determine for itself with whom or what it prefers to associate? Today's special edition of the Ron Paul Liberty Report takes a look at tomorrow's vote with an eye on real human rights...

Good News: Gallup Finds Half of US Fears Government

What is the greatest threat to the American people? In a new poll taken by the Gallup organization we learn that half the country sees its own government as most threatening to life and liberty. Another poll taken last year showed strong libertarian leanings among the young people of this country. Might this signal a turning point for the warfare-welfare state? Today's Liberty Report takes a look at the trends...

In Syria, More Lies Brings More Chaos

Why is the US government bringing back old, discredited claims like "Assad gassed his own people"? And why are its representatives like US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power trying to propagandize the American people with cooked up tales of Russian military action in Syria? Today's Liberty Report takes a look at the possible shifting sands of US policy in Syria...

Should Tweeting Be A Capital Offense?

The US government has assassinated at least one British citizen over his pro-ISIS Tweets, and we know they killed Al-Awlaki over his pro-al Qaeda propaganda. Currently the US Administration is discussing whether to accelerate its use of drones against those who Tweet the wrong things. More today on the Liberty Report...

'Refugees' Arrive in Munich, Hungary Demonized: What's The Endgame?

undefined

Watching live footage of the "refugees" arriving in Munich, it is difficult not to be struck by how non refugee-like they look. Many are well shod in expensive-looking western sneakers, wearing Adidas and other western name-brand clothing, fingering their smart phones. Mostly men of, as they say, fighting age. What few women we do see appear mostly fashionably dressed with healthy and happy looking babies.

It is de rigueur at the moment to express unconditional sympathy for those currently streaming in to Europe from, we are told, mostly Syria, to the point where it is probably risky to even entertain questions about the "rest of the story." Indeed, I have been among the first to write sympathetically about their plight and to lay the blame on the disastrous US-and-allies foreign policy of regime change. But it is hard to avoid this strange feeling that on many fronts this story is not exactly as it is being covered in the western mainstream media.

When one thinks of desperate refugees seeking a safe exit from a war zone, pictures like this and this and this generally come to mind. This is not to say that those landing in Germany are not legitimately fleeing a disaster area, but that there is something that seems odd about the whole thing. But of course to suggest such is to tip-toe into the dangerous waters of "conspiracy." Nevertheless, let's delve into several of the narratives...

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is risking a shoulder injury so vigorously is she patting herself on the back over accepting limitless numbers of these people.

War Drums Beating - Real Or Imagined?

Chinese ships are near Alaska, US Predator drones are near Russia in Latvia. Are the Russians going into Syria or is that just disinformation? Everywhere it seems little brushfires threaten to become conflagrations. Are we in great danger of a major war, or might things cool down? Tune in to today's Liberty Report...

Abusing Dead Syrian Children

undefined

Images are a powerful tool in the hands of propagandists. A picture is worth a thousand words, as the saying goes. If a powerful image can be manipulated to tell a tale even if false, it can persuade more viscerally than can a thousand reasoned arguments.

So it is with the tragic photograph making the mainstream media rounds yesterday of a lone Syrian child drowned on a Turkish shore. Reams of articles can be written about the current refugee crisis but particularly in the US they will go relatively unnoticed by those not directly affected. There may be some video clips on the nightly news but overall the story -- and particularly the context -- will go unexplained.

But the powerful image of a dead child, abandoned by the world on the capricious sway of the tide, is putty in the hands of propagandists.

And proponents of the four-year US policy of Syrian destabilization and regime change are lining up to make their case that the current refuge crisis -- now swamping Europe with Syrians desperate for something approaching a normal life -- is one hundred percent the fault of both Syrian president Assad and the western non-interventionists who objected to plans in 2013 for the US and UK to begin bombing Syria.

Refugee Crisis - Demise Of The EU?

Thousands of refugees and migrants are streaming into Europe -- mostly Hungary -- on a daily basis. Transportation has ground to a halt in Hungary as they are swarming the trains in attempt to get to Austria and Germany. Where are they escaping from? Countries like Syria and Libya where the US and EU have bombed and promoted violent regime change. Will the media blame the interventionists for creating this mass-scale human tragedy? Don't count on it. More on the crisis and what it means for Europe in today's Liberty Report...
