Ron Paul Reports Ukraine Story the Mainstream Media is Suppressing

RPI Chairman and Founder Ron Paul, over at the Ron Paul Channel, reports this week in a 14 minutes video the story behind the conflict in Ukraine. Paul also criticizes biases in how mainstream television programs cover the conflict, saying “they're part of the banking system, they're part of the military-industrial complex, they're part of an educational system that endorses perpetual intervention overseas.” The full video is viewable without the subscription usually required for Ron Paul Channel videos.

In the video, Paul notes the hypocrisy of the United States government condemning Russia for violating Ukraine sovereignty while the United States has been invading countries, taking sides in revolutionary conflicts including in Ukraine, and interfering in elections around the world. Paul notes that, while many people around the world recognize this hypocrisy, “the propaganda here, in order to get the American people satisfied, is to say ‘they are the bad guys and we are the angels’”

Kerry to Russia: You Can't Just Invade a Country on False Pretences

Poor John Kerry. He is prone to foot-in-mouth syndrome, but clearly the stress is getting to him. It's understandable. The Secretary of State and his minions went and provoked a regime change in Ukraine to which they sang the chorus "democracy" and "people power" only to discover that: 1) the new leadership has a bad case of Basil Fawlty syndrome, stiff-arming at every opportunity; and 2) a good chunk of the country (as the rest of us could tell looking at voting maps) had no intention of going along with the US-engineered regime change in Kiev.

First Crimea, with a majority Russian and Russian-speaking population, rejected the self-proclaimed government in Kiev, then one by one eastern Ukrainians began mass demonstrations where the Russian flag was hoisted on public buildings.

America Agrees With Ron Paul on Ukraine

Last week, just as the US-backed rebels were overthrowing the government in Ukraine, RPI founder Ron Paul advised the US government to stop meddling in Ukraine. In "Leave Ukraine Alone," Dr. Paul warned about the interventionists who "keep pushing their own agenda for Ukraine behind the scenes, even as they ridicule anyone who claims US involvement."

How right he was. Since his column, the Ukrainian government has been overthrown and an unelected group claims to rule the country, the Russian-speaking half of the country rejected these new "rulers," Russia was warned of intervention "red lines" by President Obama, Russian President Putin requested and was granted permission to use the Russian military in areas of Ukraine where Russians are threatened, and the world moved closer to a major war than it has been for perhaps a half-century.

Did Susan Rice Just Threaten Russia With War?

The US and EU got their regime change in Ukraine (for now). The legal government has been overthrown by an armed mob in the streets. As in Egypt, where the military overthrow of the democratically-elected Morsi government was called by US Secretary of State John Kerry, "restoring democracy," US officials are lining up to describe the coup in Ukraine in the most positive terms.

"Over time, this trajectory is a good one," said US National Security Advisor Susan Rice.

US Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt, who was caught on tape planning the overthrow of the Ukrainian rgovernment with US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, described the fruits of his heretofore successful regime change operation as "thrilling, exhausting, but also inspiring."

Ukraine Is Responsible For Its Demise...But We All May Suffer

Ukraine is an utter disaster. A few thousand violent rebels in a country of more than 40 million have turned Kiev into a post-apocalyptic hell, where the government is incapable of restoring order, incapable of protecting its own police force from snipers whose well-armed presence in buildings is reminiscent of the Syrian rebels (also backed by the US government).

US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt, who was caught on tape plotting the overthrow of the democratically-elected government of Ukraine -- presumably in the name of democracy? -- openly demands that a new government be formed and that the Ukrainian constitution be rewritten to limit presidential power.

Why Does Ukraine Seem So Much Like Syria?

In Ukraine, US-backed rebels seize weapons from a military depot and begin firing on police -- killing at least ten. The rebel groups occupy and torch government buildings, trade union headquarters, the central post office, and political party headquarters. They occupy local government facilities in other cities and physically attack local authorities. Their goal is to overthrow the elected government.

Reports of rebel reinforcements arriving, with "bulky backpacks near the scene of the latest protests," are suspiciously reminiscent of the "Internet in a Suitcase" project funded by the US government to provide tools for "activists" in regime-change candidate countries. The US has similarly trained and equipped the Syrian rebels.

US-backed rebels are photographed all over Ukraine with weapons, sometimes photographed shooting at police. In Syria, the US covertly provided the weapons and approved Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and other "friends of Syria" to provide even more. A Russian official has accused the US of arming the Ukrainian opposition.

US/UN Fears Assad Win in Free Syrian Election?

Every now and then we have a chance to peek through a tiny window to see how "diplomacy" is done behind closed doors. Last week the leaked conversation between US diplomats plotting the overthrow of Ukraine's government was one such dramatic moment.

Another came yesterday, in an interview with Iran's Ambassador to Lebanon, Ghazanfar Roknabadi, which appeared in the respected Lebanese Daily Star newspaper. In a sweeping interview, the Ambassador discussed the recent bombing of the Iranian embassy in Beirut and the regional threat of the growing number of jihadist groups in Syria.

Who is Victoria Nuland? RPI's McAdams Joins Jay Taylor to Explain

Fighting the propaganda! RPI Director Daniel McAdams joins Jay Taylor to discuss the Ukraine unrest and the Victoria Nuland scandal. Who is Victoria Nuland? A member of the premier family of neoconservatism in the US, who seamlessly moves from advising Dick Cheney to advising John Kerry on foreign policy. Is it any wonder why the first solution is always war?
