Did Ukraine Shoot Down the Plane?

Evidence from too many different sources raises a good deal of doubt about the US government version of the crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 last month. What about the Ukrainian fighter said by many witnesses — and seemingly confirmed by Russian air traffic controllers — to be shadowing the passenger plane? What about observations from OSCE investigators that the cockpit seemed to have been hit with heavy caliber machine gun fire? Was the Ukrainian fighter using the passenger plane as a "human shield?" Why does the US government seem to have lost interest in the investigation?

Is Brzezinski Pushing Ethnic Cleansing for Eastern Ukraine?

Zbig

Global chessboard enthusiast Zbigniew Brzezinski has a plan for Ukraine. In a recent speech to the Woodrow Wilson Center, excerpted by the Atlantic Council, he argues forcefully in favor of the United States providing the Ukrainian military far more weapons.

Under the guise of preventing a Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has been the rallying cry of those who seek more US involvement in the region, Brzezinski believes that the US must provide Ukraine with enough weapons to deter Russian aggression toward Ukraine.

The odds of defending against the invading Russian military being very low, Brzezinski has a different idea of how the US should arm the Kiev government.

Said the former National Security Advisor:
I feel that we should make it clear to the Ukrainians that if they are determined to resist, as they say they are and seemingly they are trying to do so (albeit not very effectively), we will provide them with anti-tank weapons, hand-held anti-tank weapons, hand-held rockets—weapons capable for use in urban short range fighting.
The US must provide urban warfare equipment to the Kiev government, he says, in order to forestall the impending Russian invasion.

Ukraine's Chocolate King Oligarch — Daniel McAdams on Scott Horton Show

RPI Director Daniel McAdams is back on the Scott Horton Show to discuss the latest events in Ukraine, which continues to burn as much attention focuses on the implosion of Iraq. The protests in Kiev were supposed to be against the oligarchic misrule of Ukraine, yet one of the most powerful oligarchs has taken over the presidency.

Ethnic Cleansing Coming in East Ukraine -- McAdams Speaks WIth Scott Horton

RPI Director Daniel McAdams is on the Scott Horton Show this week, discussing what is going on in Ukraine while everyone is paying attention to the disintegration of Iraq. The shelling of Slavyansk continues while the danger of US-sanctioned ethnic cleansing of Russian speakers from eastern Ukraine. Why does the US government continue to ignore the shelling of civilian population centers and praise the "restraint" of the Kiev regime?

State Department Claims Russian Tanks in Ukraine

Seems like it was only yesterday when we wrote about Secretary of State John Kerry's bold public statements on Russian involvement in eastern Ukraine, and then his private pleas to the new Ukrainian president for some evidence -- anything, please! -- to back up his publicly confident claims.

This follows earlier bold claims of photographic proof of Russian involvement that the regime-serving New York Times dutifully reprinted, but then had to shamefully retract after it proved to be yet another State Department deception.

Well they are at it again! And again with no proof.

Today the State Department spokesperson boldly claimed that the Russians had sent in to eastern Ukraine a "column of three T-64 tanks, several BM-21 'Grad' multiple rocket launchers, and other military vehicles..."

Washington Post At War With Reality on Ukraine

Anyone reading the Washington Post's coverage of Ukraine and Russia over the past several months knows well that when it comes to fealty to the regime, the Post makes the USSR's Pravda look like a samizdat. As long as the US administration has Russia in its sights, the Post is panting like a dog in D.C.'s summer sun.

Editorial Page Editor Fred Hiatt and his sidekick Jackson Diehl are the neocon dynamic duo who keep the hate flowing, and nothing is too sensational for its appearance as gospel on Fred's page. Fred and Jackson, as Consortium News points out, are the same guys who solemnly assured us in 2002-2003 that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction.

In normal jobs, people get fired for being incompetent, for constantly getting it wrong. Not Washington Post propagandists.

Obama and Cameron Issue Putin an Ultimatum

President Obama met with British Prime Minister David Cameron today in Brussels, where the two leaders issued an ultimatum to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Russian leader would have just one month to meet their demands or face deeper "structural" sanctions against Russia.

The three demands issued by Obama and Cameron include:

1) recognize Petro Poroshenko's election as the new leader in Kiev,
2) stop arms from crossing the border; and,
3) cease support for pro-Russian separatist groups concentrated in eastern Ukraine.

The tough talk in Brussels took place in advance of a G7 meeting originally scheduled to be held in Sochi, Russia, and include the Russian president. However after the unrest in Ukraine, which the US and EU blame on Russia, the G7 leaders moved the venue to Belgium and uninvited Putin.
