Whistleblowers Expose NSA-Partner Israel’s Corrupt Use of Surveillance Information

The Israel government, with whom the United States government has been sharing for years Americans’ and others’ unredacted private information and communications obtained through the US mass spying program, is being accused by tens of whistle-blowers of abusively using this sort of intelligence against Palestinians. The whistle-blowers, who are former and reserve members of intelligence-focused Unit 8200 of the Israel military, provide revelations illustrating some of the dangers mass spying poses in any country.

Forty-three members of Unit 8200 have written a letter to Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and several Israel military leaders declaring that they “refuse to take part in actions against Palestinians and refuse to continue serving as tools in deepening the military control over the Occupied Territories.” The letter focuses largely on how intelligence information is used to invade privacy, engage in political persecution, create divisions in the Palestinian population, fuel violence, and extend the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Tired of US Spying, Germany? Here's Some Good Advice...

Germany is reeling from ongoing revelations about the extent of the US spying operation against the country, as at least two spies have been uncovered burrowed into German intelligence, the BND. The German government has responded by asking the CIA station chief in Berlin to leave the country. Animosity toward the US government is on the increase among German politicians, who foolishly believed they had a special relationship with the US government that precluded such hostile activities.

Who will protect us from our government? That is a central question I have after reading the Washington Post's publication of NSA intercepts given to them by whistleblower Edward Snowden. The article describes an "exponential" increase in NSA spying on American citizens, gathering and storing information about deeply personal, private matters of the heart, health, and finances. 

What has happened is that under the guise of security, our government has annihilated each individual American's sphere of privacy. I warned of this when, as a member of Congress, I led opposition to the Patriot Act as well as opposing FISA legislation.

Judge Napolitano: NSA Intercepting Private Photos 'Blatantly Violates the Constitution'

Judge Andrew Napolitano condemns as a violation of privacy and the United States Constitution the recently revealed US National Security Agency practice of intercepting millions of images each day from communications including emails, text messages, and videoconferences. Napolitano, speaking on Monday with Melissa Francis on Fox Business, says the NSA’s actions blatantly violate the US Constitution and privacy rights.

Speaking with Neil Cavuto on Fox Business, Judge Andrew Napolitano predicts that Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s (D-CA) strong reaction to Central Intelligence Agency snooping on the Senate Intelligence Committee she chairs “is a turning point in the relationship between the CIA and the United States Congress.”

This change of heart of “the biggest cheerleader, the strongest supporter, and arguably the most powerful member of Congress in support of the intelligence community,” says RPI Advisory Board Member Napolitano, puts Feinstein on a “collision course” with CIA Director John O. Brennan.

Obama Promises 'Prudent Limits' on Drone Killings, Delivers Death by Unreliable Metadata

No wonder President Barack Obama has cloaked in secrecy his administration’s justifications for ordering “targeted killings,” including through the use of drones. Jeremy Scahill and Glenn Greenwald report in First Look’s "The Intercept" today that kill orders in the drones program are based on National Security Agency electronic surveillance analysis that is inherently misleading, easily foiled by targeted individuals, and necessarily causes the death and injury of unidentified, non-targeted people.

This shoddy kill order process is far from what people would reasonably think Obama was promising when he said in his January 28 State of the Union speech that, “I’ve imposed prudent limits on the use of drones.” In contrast to that promise, Scahill and Greenwald report a former drone operator’s conclusion that, “the drone program amounts to little more than death by unreliable metadata.”

RPI Chairman and Founder Ron Paul, interviewed this week on Fox Business, calls President Barack Obama’s mass spying reform speech “a lot of nonsense.” Paul proceeds to express that he is “hopeful and optimistic” that the American people, whose sentiment is shifting against of the mass spying program, will win against program defenders such as Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Rep. Mike Rogers, chairmen of the US Senate and House of Representatives intelligence committees.

The Real 'Blame America' Crowd

The Washington Post’s Walter Pincus loves to protect his sources in the Intelligence Community. In an awkward attempt to cast aspersions on the NSA leakers and the journalists who cover them, he posed “Questions for Snowden” earlier this year that were so off-base his employer was forced to publicly correct him. Pincus was outraged at the leaks rather than at the illegality they exposed, so he penned the piece questioning the motives of the leakers and suggesting that journalists who cover the leaks are part of a grand conspiracy.

Well Pincus is back, and again apparently doing the bidding of his sources in spookdom. In a column today titled “Good or not, change is coming to the NSA,” Pincus bemoans the anemic reforms suggested by the president’s hand-picked NSA review task force. This task force of course concluded that the mass collection program was completely legal. What else is to be expected when it contains people like former Acting CIA Director Michael Morell, who constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley pointed out actually wants to expand the NSA’s data collection program?
