US 'Greatest Threat To World Peace'? With Lew Rockwell

A recent poll of people in 30 countries showed that most respondents find the United States to be the greatest threat to world peace. The results are similar to those of another poll four years ago. Is it true? In today's Liberty Report we are joined by Mises Institute founder Lew Rockwell to take a look at all the places where the US military empire operates and how that contributes to the negative perception of the US overseas.

Only Morons Believe What The US Government Says About North Korea

Usually foreign analysts of the American political scene are either sycophantic or just annoying, but no one would dare say that about Aussie observer Caitlin Johnstone, whose punk rock style of cutting to the chase is as refreshing as it can be shocking (I am not a fan of the strong language, but I get it). Since President Trump's "fire and fury" explosion yesterday Americans have to an unsettling degree once again rallied 'round the (false) flag of war propaganda. Today Ms. Johnstone provided a much-needed slap in the face to the mind-numbed masses once again clamoring for US bombs on a country they could not find on a map if their lives depended on it.

Fire And Fury...And Profits! Korea Crisis Great For The War Industry

Yesterday's heated rhetoric set most normal people on edge. Would the US and North Korea launch a massive war where millions would surely be killed? One group feeling good about it all, however, are those who make billions in profit from scaring the American people -- and the rest of the world -- nearly to death. War industry profits are way up. Selling fear...in today's Liberty Report...

Rep. Walter Jones’ Tireless Effort to End the Afghanistan War

United States House of Representatives Member Walter Jones (R-NC) has for years ardently advocated terminating US involvement in the Afghanistan War. Jones’ efforts in this regard include his legislation introduced in the House, letters to US presidents and congressional leadersinterviews, and House floor speeches.

What often most surprises people is that this prominent proponent of ending the war represents a district with a population largely composed of current and retired US military members and their families. In such a district, people may suppose that advocating for peace would be unpopular. Yet, Jones has continued winning reelection despite well-funded efforts to defeat him.

War Drums Beating: North Korea Tops The List

Last weekend's UN Security Council Resolution imposing sanctions on North Korea for testing missiles opens the door to a US pre-emptive strike on the country. Russia and China foolishly went along with the US and voted for more sanctions thinking that it would open the door to diplomacy. It won't. That's the last thing Washington's warhawks want and Russia and China should have learned as much from their complicity in Libya's destruction with their vote in favor of UNSC 1973 in 2011. War coming? Tune in to today's Liberty Report...

Libya Update: Western Governments Still Eyeing Libyan 'Prize'

More than six years after the US-led "liberation" of Libya, that North African country remains an open wound symbolizing the abject failure of US and European interventionist foreign policy.

The obsession of the US neocons, whether Democrat or Republican, for "regime change" and other frivolous foreign military interventions has been consistently and eloquently criticized by the likes of Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), Congressman Trey Gowdy (R-SC), Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) and not least by former Congressman Ron Paul, to name but a handful.

Since our last Libya report of 27th July over a week ago, the ceasefire "brokered" by French President Macron at his Paris Summit with Libyan National Army head Khalifa Haftar and UN-backed prime minister, Fayez al-Sarraj is in reality nowhere to be found.

The Antiwar Conservatives, With Rep. John Duncan, Jr.

What is it like to vote against war in a conservative Congressional district? Rep. John Duncan (R-TN) found out that you can vote your conscience, explain it to your constituents, and continue to get elected. And educate conservatives about war in the process. Rep. Duncan is the last remaining Republican in the US House who voted against the 2003 Iraq war and he's still voting his conscience: he is one of only three Representatives to vote against the new North Korea/Iran/Russia sanctions bill. Today's Liberty Report visits with Rep. Duncan on what it means to be an antiwar conservative...

US Airstrikes Kill at Least 43 Civilians in Syria’s Raqqa

New reports out of the ISIS capital city of Raqqa say US airstrikes hit a number of residential districts in the city over the course of Saturday, killing at least 43 civilians and wounding an unknown, but substantial number of others.

There was no obvious specific target for the strikes, though the US has been generally targeting ISIS forces within the city to try to back the Kurdish-led invasion. The casualties in this case, however, appear to be overwhelmingly civilians.

Pence Cheers New Russia Sanctions Bill, in Split with Trump

The Trump Administration’s continued struggle to get on the same page with one another on foreign policy messages continued today, as Vice President Mike Pence, touring Eastern Europe, issued statements praising the new Russia sanctions bill signed earlier this week.

The bill was passed by vast majorities in both the House and Senate, and signed by President Trump, though the president has since slammed the bill as the reason for worsening US-Russia relations, which he termed to be at “an all-time and very dangerous low.
