Obama's War On History

President Obama's speech in Brussels this week was a shocking mélange of ignorance and arrogance masquerading as foreign policy.

Attempting to justify placing the US on war footing with Russia over the recent referendum in Crimea, the president stated:
Kosovo only left Serbia after a referendum was organized not outside the boundaries of international law, but in careful cooperation with the United Nations and with Kosovo’s neighbors. None of that even came close to happening in Crimea.
Of course anyone who followed the Kosovo fiasco knows that never happened. There was no such thing. Made up. The Kosovo parliament declared independence unilaterally backed up by US/NATO military power to ensure the change of borders.

Col. Wilkerson: 'What American Wants to Die for Kiev?'

RPI academic advisor Col. Lawrence Wilkerson appears in a thought-provoking interview on MSNBC, where he expresses his hopes that President Obama can find a way to walk back from the increasing US/Russia war footing. Asked by the host about the neocons who are increasingly critical of the president over what they see as his lack of aggression toward Russia, Wilkerson replies with a blast.

The TSA PreCheck Extortion Racket

Transportation Security Administration Administrator John Pistole touted on Tuesday the expansion of TSA's extortion racket-style program known as the PreCheck. Pistole’s comments were part of his testimony at the US House of Representatives before the Homeland Security Subcommittee of the Appropriations Committee.

Under PreCheck, travelers in airports who have taken steps including paying $85, giving over their fingerprints, and obtaining TSA approval of their background checks have a chance -- but no guarantee -- that TSA employees will, over a five year term, harass them a bit less than other travelers.

Ron Paul: A New Cold War?

This week on the Ron Paul Weekly Podcast, Dr. Paul and host Charles Goyette discuss the US government's bizarre re-igniting of the Cold War through interventionism and hypocrisy in Ukraine.

The interventionists try to stoke up another cold -- or even hot -- war with Russia. But on a brighter note, Dr. Paul points out that global trade and business ties are the best defense against the warmongers. The more we trade and engage, the less likely governments will start wars.

Col. Lawrence Wilkerson: How to Avoid War Over Ukraine

Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, speaking with Chris Hayes on MSNBC this week, details steps the United States government can take to avoid war over Ukraine. Wilkerson suggests:
Ukraine needs to be a buffer state between what is now an alliance that Russia hates -- NATO -- and a country that NATO has a problem with -- Russia… Crimea needs to be exactly where it is -- with Russia where it has been for over 350 years. And we need to stop the passionate statements and get down to business and work this out. We don’t need a war.

Foiled in Crimea, Is Obama Eyeing Syria Strike?

There is danger in making dramatic but idle threats. President Obama and his administration have been given to extremely muscular rhetoric to warn adversaries away from certain actions only to back down when their warnings are not heeded.

The neocons pounce on such unwise habits, attempting to trap the administration by its own rhetoric into fulfilling its wildest threats. It is a lose-lose with the administration but for some reason they keep it up.

Ron Paul: Crimea Secedes. So What?

RPI Chairman Ron Paul has an op-ed in Tuesday's USA Today wondering why the US is so eager to saddle up for war over a relatively insignificant piece of land thousands of miles away. Dr. Paul is thankful that the bonds of international trade are tempering the passions of the US neocons and warhawks.
