Ron Paul Talks 'Swords into Plowshares' on the Tom Woods Show

Former US presidential candidate and US House member Ron Paul and libertarian multi-bestselling author Tom Woods offered an enticing preview of Paul’s new book Swords into Plowshares on the Wednesday episode of the Tom Woods Show. Paul’s new book, which may be pre-ordered before its July 17 release, is rapidly moving up the Amazon sales rankings.

Woods calls Paul’s Swords into Plowshares both “fantastic” and a “one stop shop” for arguments, including moral and economic arguments, against war.

Paul, in the interview, relates two of the major topics in the new book, both referred to in the new book’s full title: Swords into Plowshares: A Life in Wartime and a Future of Peace and Prosperity.

First, Paul notes, “the book more or less outlines my personal memories and experience with war.” Woods expands on Paul’s observation:
I want to make sure people understand what the structure of this book is. It is deeply personal — much of it. You talk about your childhood. You talk about your own experiences observing war. You talk about your career in Congress. You talk about your decision to go into medicine because it was the opposite of war — you were saving life instead of taking people’s lives. This is all intensely personal testimony…
Second, Paul, who is the Chairman and Founder of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity, explains that one of his “goals in the book is to try to get people to think differently — that we don’t have to have perpetual war, that maybe mankind can progress” away from engaging in so much warfare.

Listen below to the complete interview and hear a fascinating discussion of these and so many more matters addressed in Paul’s new book, including why Paul chose to title his new book Swords into Plowshares and why Paul encourages young people to look to Muhammad Ali’s “greatest fight ever” for inspiration.
